Kahu Kalani Wong applauds during the groundbreaking ceremony of the new hotel Tuesday morning. A joint venture consisting of A&B Properties, R.D. Olson Development and Marriott is developing the project. The hotel is expected to open in about a year and is aimed at business and government travelers and Hawaii residents needing a location for family reunions, baby luau or other occasions.
